About Bike for Peace

Bike for Peace was founded by Tore Naerland and friends in 1978. The first tour crossed Northern Ireland during a violent period of the Troubles. Since then BFP has cycled for peace in more than 70 countries, always with the same method, dialogue across conflict lines, the bicycle as a bridge.

Today the work is led by President Tore Naerland, Project Leader Erik Berge, and spokesperson Josy Kang.

Bike for Peace has received the MacBride Peace Prize, the Mahatma Gandhi Prize for non-violence, His Majesty The King's Medal of Merit in gold, and the Order of Dostyk.
